PREPARATION IS THE KEY
College Admissions Interview
Internship & Job Interviews
If given the opportunity, the interview allows you to make a personal connection and directly express your interest in a school. It provides a unique opportunity to differentiate yourself from the many applicants being considered. By investing just a small amount of time prior to your interview, you will feel much more prepared and confident to communicate effectively and present your best self to the admissions counselor.
The interview is a critical component of the hiring process. If done effectively, it can make a big difference in differentiating yourself from other applicants and demonstrating that you are the best candidate for the position. Dedicating time prior to the interview to practice is absolutely essential in ensuring that you are prepared to communicate well thought out answers to the questions you are asked.
One-on-One Coaching

Crafting your "Walk me through your resume" pitch:
One of the biggest mistakes applicants make in answering this very common interview question, is to simply review their resume, item by item, in almost a list format. Interviewers can read what is written on a resume. The best response to this question is one which highlights all the elements of your unique story as they relate back to the specific job for which you are applying. In our sessions, we will work together to craft a dynamic, relevant, and well thought out answer.

Crafting your "Tell me about yourself" response: One of the most common and often dreaded interview questions is "Tell me about yourself". It can feel very vague and deciding what to communicate can seem daunting. While it is often used by an interviewer to break the ice and get the conversation started, it is also an opportunity for an applicant to share elements of themselves that may not be on their application. It's the perfect question to practice ahead of time and will help you start your interview with confidence.

Interview Question Practice: In our session, you will have the opportunity to practice your answers to the most common interview questions. Whether you are a student seeking admissions to a college or an individual looking for employment, we will discuss how to best answer them, given your background and experiences, helping you to develop your unique story and feel fully prepared to answers to a wide array of interview questions.
Identifying and Developing "S.T.A.R" stories: STAR is an acronym for Sitation-Task-Action-Result and is a technique used to generate answers to behavioral based questions. Think: "Tell me about a time when...." With the belief that past behavior predicts future behavior, this style of questioning is very popular among interviewers. We will review and discuss the different experiences you have had to determine what your stories are and how to craft the best answers to these types of questions.

Mock Interviews: If you would simply like the opportunity to practice your interview skills as if in an actual interview setting, I also offer mock interviews. In a low stress environment, you will have the chance to "test drive" your answers. After the "interview", you will receive immediate feedback on your strengths and suggested areas for improvement.

Interview Do's and Don'ts: A basic but important part of preparing for an interview is being aware of the important Do's and Don'ts.
