The college application process can feel like a very daunting experience to both the student and the parent. The applications, multiple

forms, varying deadlines, and extensive college choices, as well as the other smaller, yet critical components, can feel overwhelming.

My role as a college counselor is to alleviate that stress by managing the process from start to college acceptance.

Through a very organized and hands-on approach, I work directly with students, on a regular basis, to ensure that everything is completed ahead of deadlines. I place a large emphasis on really getting to know students, what differentiates them and how that can

be communicated throughout the entire application process. I take the time to get to know their interests, background, and individual priorities so that whether they think they know exactly where they want to go, or are starting with a blank slate, we can navigate the

volume of college choices to find the best fit for them.

What I provide......

One-on-one guidance: While guidance counselors are one resource for students in the college admissions process, they are also juggling a myriad of other responsibilities. In my role, I provide the individual attention that students need so they receive the guidance, direction, and assistance they require. This can be particularly helpful for those that struggle with organizational skills, difficulty getting started, or just thrive with one-on-one support.

Hands-on approach: I intentionally limit the number of students I work with so that I can work directly with each student, at every stage of the process - from completing the application together, filling out reference forms together, to drafting impactful emails to colleges together etc. I am extremely accessible so students and parents are able to get answers to questions and support when they need it.

Organization and Logistics: I am a highly organized individual and therefore each application process is handled in a very organized manner. Parents and students feel less overwhelmed with a clear timeline in place, focused sessions, meeting recaps, and all logistics handled.

Developing the college list: Making sure a student has a balanced list of colleges, that meet their academic, social, cultural, and financial needs is critical. I show students how to most effectively research colleges. Through a college fit survey and extensive time getting to know students, I help them navigate the many options so that they create the right list of schools.

Applications are differentiated: Colleges are receiving more applications than ever and admission rates are down due to the volume of qualified candidates. It's more important than ever to differentiate yourself. I focus on ensuring that the supporting materials (those in addition to grades and courses)- the recommendations, the application, the interviews, the personalized emails and follow up, set the student apart whenever possible and reflect their individual "story".

Tracking deadlines: One of the most common things I hear from people is feeling overwhelmed by all the varying deadlines. I take this worry off your plate! All deadlines are met, ahead of schedule, and parents and students always feel organized and on-top-of the process from start to finish.

Guidance on high school course selection/activities/recommendations: I will provide students with support and insight into course selection, extra-curricular activities, and summer plans as well as guidance on how to select and ensure strong teacher recommendations.

Essay and supplemental writing supportEnsuring that my students are submitting personalized and impactful essays is key component of my role. This includes brainstorming college and supplemental essay ideas and reviewing all essays that are written by my students, offering feedback and suggestions as necessary.

Athletic Recruiting Support: For my student athletes, I offer hands-on support throughout their recruiting process. This includes working with students to identify schools, create an organized system for managing the process, and overseeing all communication with coaches from introduction and follow-up emails to phone conversations and interviews.

Interview and Resume Counseling: My background in interview coaching and career counseling allows me to effectively prepare students for college interviews as well as generate thorough and dynamic resumes when applicable.

Dedicated "third party" resource: The college application process is often filled with high emotions. My role is to provide a resource to families so that the students and parents can interact and approach the process in a less stressful manner and focus on enjoying their junior/senior years together!

Affordable and accessible: There are lots of options when it comes to selecting a college counselor. My goal is to provide a cost effective way for families who want to use an outside resource to manage the application process without sacrificing any level of service, attention, or quality.
